Attending PAL’s inaugural flight to Toronto

I never thought that I’d be going to Canada this year. Thanks to Philippine Airlines for inviting me to join their Manila (MNL) – Toronto (YYZ) inaugural flight not more than 20 hours ago. The maiden flight was made possible with PAL’s newest addition to its fleet, the Boeing 777-300 ER, which allows the airline to deliver non-stop long range trips to Toronto, Canada and to any part of the world for that matter. So for travelers from the Philippines who want to go to Canada, all they have to do now is book their flight, and not have to worry about lay-overs, or multiple flights.

Two inaugural ceremonies were held earlier. We attended one before we left Manila at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and another one in Canada after we arrived at Toronto Pearson International Airport. It was Mr. Ramon Ang, CEO of the San Miguel Group and Philippine Airlines, who kicked-off the celebration. Several members of the press, travel industry, bloggers and airline executives attended the celebration.

Bloggers (from L-R) Ivan Henares, Nina Fuentes, Jojo Ayson, me and Melo Villareal while waiting at NAIA2’s Mabuhay Lounge.

A similar ceremony was conducted at Toronto Pearson International Airport after arrival.

Philippine Airlines will fly three times a week from Manila to Toronto. This co-exists with their Vancouver route.

I still have a lot to share about my first day in Canada. Pardon the awkward look on my face since I’m still figuring out how to smile with my newly installed dental braces. I’ll share more of my trip to Canada in the succeeding posts. For now, I shall get my much needed rest.
