Diving in Davao

This is part two of my blog series Places to Visit in Davao. In my previous entry, I featured Davao Pearl Farm in Samal where it boasts its blue waters and luxurious cottages.

Another great way to spend your summer is by doing scuba diving activities in few of the many available dive spots in Samal Island, Davao. The island is situated within the Davao Gulf. It takes 15 minutes to an hour to get to the different dive spots. Several commercial agencies offer diving packages for group and individuals.

Samal’s rich marine ecosystem is a haven for scuba divers, underwater photographers and beach lovers. Underneath the enchanted waters of Samal lies the different varieties of hard of soft corals, different species of fishes and other forms of sea life. For adventurous divers, the Dive Spot near the Pearl Farm Resort has a spot with the wrecked ships of the World War II.

The photo on the right features the different dive spots that you can find on Samal Island. (Photo courtesy of Wind and Wave Davao)

For those who do not have knowledge in diving activities, you may also want to try the other water activities like snorkeling, wind surfing and island hopping.

If you are interested of booking for a diving adventure, you may contact Wind and Wave Davao or Davao Scuba Dive Center through their websites.

Based on a little experience and what my diving friends have told me, I’d recommend Wind and Wave.

You should’ve mentioned the coral gardens, Wins! It’s for non-divers like me, but it’s just as awesome a place as any dive site. Imagine the “cityscape” in Finding Nemo, but true to life! :)
