Good news to the e-commerce industry players and bloggers in Cebu, Miss Janette Toral of the DigitalFilipino Club is organizing a Fellowship/Networking Event next month in Cebu City. The purpose of this activity is to become a venue for e-commerce industry players and bloggers to exchange ideas and updates.
This event will be on October 23, Thursday, 6pm to 11pm at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, 1st Salinas Drive Lahug, Cebu City.

Batang Yagit in PBA ‘08

I still can’t find the words to write. It’s almost eight hours now when I came to this quasi utopia state. The sensations I felt hours ago are still fresh. I want to muster the right words to say (or write) but I can’t. All I can think of right at the moment is THANK YOU.
Going back twenty hours before the event, Jehz and I were at home, browsing the internet and checking the progress of the votes for Batang Yagit from technorati. Even at the very last day of the voting period, several people were still able to cast their precious votes. Most of whom are coming from the Visayas and the Mindanao region.

Batang Yagit para sa PBA Bloggers’ Choice Award

Ako po si Batang Yagit, isang blogger na taga-Mindanao (Davao City). Ako po ay natutuwa sa pagkakapasok ko bilang nominee sa Philippine Blog Awards Bloggers’ Choice Award. Ito ang pangalawang nomination ko para sa PBA 2008.
Noong nakaraang buwan, nakatanggap ako ng email galing sa mga organizers ng PBA na nagsasabing nanominate ang Digital Puto blog ko para sa Photo Blog na category. Mas higit kong ikinagalak nang malaman kong nakapasok ang Batang Yagit sa mga finalist para sa Bloggers’ Choice Award. Yayks. For the Win ang yagit.
Marami rin sa mga kakilala ko ang nakapasok sa nomination. Kung marami lang kaming mga yagit nag nagblo-blog, pakikiusapan ko ang lahat ng yagit sa world na iboto ang mga kakilala ko. Tsk tsk tsk. Pero dahil nag-iisa lang ako, ibibigay ko ang aking boto kay “Batang Yagit”.
“Wala pang yagit na nanalo ng award, sana ako ang una”.

Goodyear Autocare in Mandaue

A week before I left for Manila for the WordCamp Philippines 2008 event, I received a call from Ms. Karla Tecson inviting me (and my blogging friends) to attend the launch of Goodyear’s Autocare center in Maguikay, Mandaue City. Because the event fell on a Thursday (August 28, 2008), only three of us (bloggers) responded to the invitation. Present were McBilly, X and me.

Wordcamp Philippines

A lot of people were wondering what happened to my blog after becoming idle for a couple of months. I’ve been very busy with my studies in Cebu City that I was not able to find time for my blog. But that didn’t stop me from getting involved with blogging.
Last Thursday, I flew to Manila for the most awaited event, the WordCamp Philippines 2008. Five months ago, we started doing our preparations for the event in Davao and Manila. But I am very glad that the 8-hour event turned out successfully.
Hundreds of Wordpress users and developers attended Southeast Asia’s first WordCamp. The event was graced by the presence of the creator of Wordpress Matt Mullenweg.
The success of WordCamp Philippines 2008 won’t be possible without the collaboration of the members of the organizing team, the sponsors, the blogger and student volunteers.

How to maximize the use of your Casio 991MS Calculator

As engineering students, part of our i-use-everyday-stuff is the calculator. You’d surely fail if you don’t have one. But sometimes, getting bored in class is inevitable. One must find ways to dig some fun during classes.
We have deviced several tricks how you could maximize the use of your Casio 991MS calculator in a fun way.
The Number Game
You can use the Random Number feature of the calculator to generate random number. By multiplying the random number by 10 and setting FIX parameter to 0, we can get a single-digit whole number which we can use for a number guessing game.
You can increase the number of output digits by increasing the number of zeros in the multiplier.
The Betting Game
Ohhh.. this one’s not good but we’re looking at it as a possibility. You can use the technique I mentioned above and do some slight modifications. Let’s say, the person who get a bigger output gets the pot.
Hahaha. nah! You can’t possibly do this while having classes.
The Fastest Finger
This game test which person has the fastest key-press speed. The person with most key press made wins. The number of key press made is determined by the counter (answer).
This can be done by first pressing 0 and the = keys. Next is to enter Ans + 1. To start the game, the users should continuously press the = sign until the alloted time is up.
For Messaging
Since talking in class or using the mobile phone is prohibited, why not use your calculator?
You can use the symbols, constants, formulas, and functions innate on your calculator to form words and phrases which you could pass on your seat mate. Hehehe.. it’s very useful in those boring moments.

too bad i lost my calculator… 
and even if I have it right now.. I still can’t perform ur tricks.. because it’s not a Casio 991MS.. (neither a model similar to it). I think mine is one of the oldest casio calculators out there that can only display up to 9 digits.. bwahahaha 
Ahmmm.. about sending a message using a calculator.. Have u tried the old school method of sending a message during class? Like ahmm.. writing a message in a piece of paper, and roll it to your ballpen ink container, insert the ink container inside your ballpen, then pass it to your seat mate!

I have a similar Casio calculator. Way back in high school, we used the random number function for pen and paper RPG games. And we did have fastest key presser contests. LOL!
