One of those few ‘Pachams’
The title says pachams but I’m not referring to the PG kind of pacham. I never thought that I’d be doing this post. I waited for updates regarding the DPP-Caltex Hot Air Balloon Fiesta Photo Competition that I joined three weeks ago but it was only earlier this week that I learned that they’re holding the awarding ceremonies on Friday. I was apprehensive at the same time excited to what the results were going to be.
I waited for a call and/or email from Chevron since Monday but I haven’t received any form of communication from them. A DPP moderator informed me last week that a representative from Caltex will contact me anytime this week. Earlier today, I received an email from Jonel regarding the awarding ceremony invitation. I still haven’t received my invitation so I contacted Chevron and asked regarding the Awarding ceremony and confirmed my attendance.
During these past days, I used to stay late in the office working overtime but my boss excused me from staying late at work tonight. She knows that I’m attending the awarding ceremony and asked me to do good when I was about to leave. At the back of my mind I was thinking that I can’t possibly do any better anymore since I only have to wait for the result. I also received an SMS from my bestfriend asking about the awarding ceremony. I told him about this but I never really expected that he’d come since he was busy at home.
So then I went there with Jehz and Jonel. We were not expecting anything since most photos were really good. In fact, from the words of Nick Tuason (DPP), they had difficulty judging the photos ‘coz most of them were good (ehem). I was glad that two of my photos made it to the finalists, one was included in the top 5 and the other one was part of Saturday’s top 20 finalists. I got 1,000 php worth of Caltex gas card for getting in to the top 5 photos for the day.
Then the daily top 5 finalists were awarded, the overall winner(s) among the daily top 5 finalists were called. After the 3rd and 2nd prize winners were called, my hopes went down since I was not expecting that I’d qualify for the top prize. (drum roll)…. :announce:
I brought home a total of PhP 21,000 worth of Caltex gas cards, 1 Walcom Bamboo Touch tablet, 1 year free subscription to Digital Photographer Philippines magazine, a set of printer from Epson (which I haven’t received yet), a chance for my photo to get published in the April issue of DPP Magazine and total exclusive bragging right for winning the Grand Prize for the 15th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta Photo Contest. Woooot! :dance:
