Pan Grilled Blue Marlin
Fish meat for Lent. Last Wednesday, a friend from Davao came to Manila for a convention in Tarlac City. Since it’s been a while that I had fish, I asked him if he could bring some steak cuts of tuna or marlin. He brought a nifty amount of Blue Marlin. Yesterday, I invited my college classmate who’s working here in Manila to come over to my place. Told him I’ll prepare dinner. Our class use to do this when we were still in Cebu.
Unfortunately, all grocery stores and supermarkets near my apartment are closed for the Lent. I was thinking of marinating my fish steak in herbs and spices but I was not able to get the necessary herbs for my experimental recipe. I ended up soaking the fish cuts in lemon juice, onions, Japanese soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper. Since I don’t have any electric grill at home, I used my non-stick pan to pan-grill my Blue Marlin. Adding a few dash of McCormick Powdered Garlic helped in enhancing the flavors of the fish.
I found in our fridge some greens left from Tuesday’s dinner. I used these veggies to make a my Salad greens with French dressing. yum yum. I also sauted (if that’s the right term) some carrot, corn and peas in butter.
I still have a few slices of Blue Marlin left in the freezer. I’m still thinking of what good recipe I can make out of them.
