Samsung Galaxy S Review
After using the Samsung Galaxy S that I unboxed about a couple of weeks ago, I realized that there are lots of aspects wherein it’s better than my other Android phone, the HTC Google Nexus One. Samsung has introduced a lot of improvements from the available functionality of the stock Android 2.1 system.

The complete set of the Samsung Galaxy S.
There are two things which makes the Samsung Galaxy S stand out among any other Android device available in the market today. First is its 4.0-inch 800 x 480 WVGA Super AMOLED touchscreen which provides the most vivid display quality. Not even iPhone 4.0′s cramped pixels can match its superb quality. The Galaxy S also has better display brightness and contrast than my Nexus One. The black colored pixels on screen are so dark that you would barely even notice that these pixels are turned on. And the best thing about the screen is that you can use it under the sun.
Second kick-ass feat of the Galaxy S is its 1.0 GHz Hummingbird processor and GPU which lets you do almost anything on your phone while reducing the chances of experiencing hangs and lags. I tried playing Asphalt 5 on the Galaxy S and the experience was smooth.

Samsung also brought their own TouchWiz UI into the Galaxy S. Despite being a proprietary software, Samsung’s new TouchWiz UI doesn’t have the looks and feel of the TouchWiz UI in the earlier Samsung devices. The most notable modification made on the TouchWiz UI for Android is the full integration of social networks into the Android system. Galaxy S lets you synchronize your phone contacts with your Gmail, MySpace, Twitter and Facebook accounts. Opening a phone contact will also let you take a peek into your contact’s social stream. They also added a unified history tab wherein you can view all incoming and outgoing phone and social network activities made through your phone. An activities tab also lets you view your entire network’s social activity stream.
The “Write and Go” application is also a nifty addition in the Samsung Galaxy S. It’s a single application which lets you write a message and offers you the options of sending the message as SMS/MMS, Email or keeping the message in your Memo archives.
For Samsung, having a bigger screen doesn’t have to be bulky and heavy. You might be surprised to learn that the Samsung Galaxy S weighs lighter than the Nexus One or iPhone. Apart from being light-weight, it also boasts its 10mm thickness making it one of the thinnest touch phone devices in the market.
Despite the most recent release of iPhone in the mobile phone market, Samsung was able to pull off the Samsung Galaxy S and made it standout among its competitors. Samung may have made a lot of mistakes in their first attempt, the Samsung Galaxy Spica, but surely they made everything perfect on this one.
If you wish to get the Samsung Galaxy S for free, Globe is raffling off one brand new set of Galaxy S to bloggers. If you can’t wait for the contest deadline, you may get the Samsung Galaxy S under these plans:

Nice review but you might want to re-check that claim about the iPhone 4 not being able to match the Super AMOLED screen of Samsung.

Not that I’m putting down Samsung’s Super AMOLED. It’s one the best display out there but Apple’s retina display can definitely hold a candle to it.

Pa try naman nyan Winston. Patingin nang Super AMOLED, dito lang kami sa devb sa baba…
