Touring Cebu and Mactan

Brian, Doyzkie, Bryan, Atty. Ethelbert, Sinjin, Mica and Banban
The Cebu trip last weekend is my first out of town trip this year. It was an unplanned trip since I only decided to go on the last minute. It was Mica and Bong who originally planned the Cebu tour. I can say it’s one of the most fun Cebu trip I had so far. If the trip with the Patay Gutom gang last year was focused on food (Mooon Cafe and more), this time, we took the opportunity to check out the tourist destinations around and within Cebu and Mactan. Thanks all to Doyzkie who generously gave his time for our weekend trip.

Chicken with Pesto Sauce of Cafe Georg by Oh! Georg
We had dinner on Saturday at Cafe Georg in Banilad. It’s a bigger version of the Oh! Georg resto found in Ayala Center Cebu. I’ve heard about this restaurant before but I never really had an opportunity to experience their offerings. We could have mistaken the resto as a Chinese Restaurant since most of the customers present that night were Chinese.

The City lights of Cebu from the mountains of Busay.
After dinner, the group went to Waterfront Hotel and Casino which is a few minute drive from Oh! Georg. Mica grabbed the opportunity to shoot her short film in the hotel lobby. The first photo above was also taken inside Waterfront Hotel. I’ve been here before for a couple of events. They have this extremely huge ballroom/theater which I think can accommodate a thousand people.
Most of the night was spent in Mountain View Park, Busay. After camwhoring in Waterfront, Doydoy brought us to Mountain View Park which is quite far from the city area. The park is located in the mountains of Busay, which is around half an hour from the city. You can actually from there see the entire Cebu City and some parts of Mandaue, Mactan and Talisay.

Marcelo Fernan Bridge, Mactan, Cebu
Most of our day two was spent in Mactan, Cebu. I’ve never been in any place in Mactan except for the Mactan International Airport. Since our generous tour guide lives in Mactan, he decided to meet-up with us in Marina Mall.

The Mactan Shrine
The first destination was the famous Mactan Shrine. This is where the famous battle of Mactan, the first resistance of Filipinos against European invaders, happened.

Gelatissimo
We also went to Shangrila Mactan and concluded the Mactan tour at the park underneath the Marcelo Fernan Bridge where we enjoyed watching kids diving in the cool waters of the Mactan channel. Also, later that day, we met up with several Cebu bloggers and pigged out at Gelatissimo.
