Mandaue Business Month Press Conference

I mentioned in an earlier post that I got invited by Mr. Wilson Ng to attend the Mandaue Business Month press conference. The invitation was also open to other 15 bloggers but only a few responded because of some conflicts in schedule. Among those who attended the press conference are Aileen (http://sunchoke.net), Wil (http://misswilhelmina.com), Paul (http://cebudirectories.com), Nick (http://in-indie.org), Arnold (http://cebuheritage.com), and Rio (http://ngkhai.net/blog).
Present during the press conference are the people from the business sector, the media, and Hon. Gwen Garcia, the governor of the province of Cebu. The purpose of that press conference is to formally launch the upcoming 17th Visayas Business Area Business Conference and the Mandaue Business Month.

The first week in Cebu City was very difficult on my part. I’m not used of eating carenderia food. While I was in Davao, I was spoiled with my Lola’s home-cooked meals and food from Davao’s best restaurants. I was not prepared in the sudden change of my lifestyle.
Among those things I miss about Davao are the numerous Inasal restaurants found in the downtown area. Mang Inasal, Penongs, and Banoks among others. Last night, we were able to come across Cebu’s barbeque haven. We didn’t realize that such place lies a few blocks away from our building.

Batang Yagit conquers Brunei

Is this street named after the brother of Julia Roberts? Maybe not.
This is just one of the few street names that can be found in Brunei. Jalan is a Malay word which means street in the English language.
During my short stay in Negara Brunei Darrusalam, I learned a few things about the country. Brunei was once under the British Protectorate. It’s a small but powerful country. The population of Brunei won’t even reach a million.
Unlike in Manila, Brunei has an organized road and traffic system. I’m impressed on how disciplined the drivers in Brunei are. Similar to other Asian countries, Brunei’s vehicles employ a right hand drive system. I was having some difficulty in crossing streets ‘coz I get confused on which part of the road to look first. Hehehehe.
Stuffs in Brunei are expensive. While I was exploring their mall, my hand was doing the conversion. The prices in Brunei are almost twice as that of in Malaysia.
I’m supposed to go back to Brunei this Saturday but I opted not to. I feel to tired and I don’t want to spend some dollars for another Brunei trip

It is interesting that “jalan” refer to street. Di ba diri sa ato ang dtreet is “dalan.” paryente ra jud noh? It is evident our Malay kinship with the people in Borneo island shows up in our languages.
