I ran the 5k race and I got tired

I ran last Sunday in Unilab’s Run United for Wellness and I got tired. I underestimated the 5-km race and I didn’t realize that the race will stress me to my limits. The last run I had was in 2008 when I was still having my review in Cebu City. We used to run, together with my classmates, at the Arellano Sports Complex in Jones, Cebu.

The only motivation I had to finish the race last Sunday was to get ahead of that granny who was almost at the same pace as me. I was walking for most part of the race.  The only time I run is when the granny gets ahead of me. :struggle:. I finished the 5km race in 43 minutes (I first thought it was 40-minutes).

I’ll be running again two Sundays from now. I’ll try to do better in Globe’s Run for Home.

it will take some time for you to adjust.
    don’t force yourself.
    start with short distances.
don’t be ashamed to walk, walk and run but enjoy the race.
when your body is ready, you can go for longer distances.
normally if there’s a 3-K, start from there, then 5-K, eventually 10-K, 21-K and who knows you can complete the 42.195-K run!
ask sir momong robillo, the former president of the davao sunday runners club inc., for advice.
