Upload Problems with WordPress 2.5

Lately, after I upgraded my blog to WordPress 2.5, I’ve been experiencing problems when uploading photos on my posts. After hitting the browse and upload buttons, a login frame which asks for my username and password is loaded within the upload layer. Entering the username and password into the login fields does not resolve problem. The frame loads the index page of the blog after logging in.

The weird thing about this problem is its inconsistency. Most often, the media uploader of my blog works fine. Last night, I was supposed to upload the WordCamp Philippines badge on my post but the problem occurred again. This morning, I tried searching for a fix on this problem.

In WordPress 2.5, the developers integrated Adobe Flash for the Image and Media Uploader. This new flash uploader can support multiple file upload with a realtime upload proress bar. Based on my observation, the problem occurs when the flash “Add Media” dialogue is loaded instead of the traditional Browse/Upload form.

According to a blog post I found, “…the media uploader has numerous bugs and problems, which basically make the Flash uploader not working, or not successfully uploading the files.

To solve this problem, the author suggested that the flash uploader should be disabled. To do this, a no flash uploader plugin may be used.
